The General Overseer of the Calabar-based City of Evidence Ministry, Evang Dr Bam Uket, has congratulated the Cross River State Governor-elect, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, on his victory in the March 11 polls, and charged him to hit the ground running from day one.

Dr Uket, in a chat with our reporter in his office in 8 Miles, Calabar, said the Odukpani-born politician is the best man for the plum job today especially with his pedegree, exposure and goodwill across the state and nation.

“Let me, on behalf of my family and ministry congratulate the Governor-elect, Senator Prince Otu for his victory. Prince Otu is loved by all and that explains the margin by which he won the Governorship contest. Prince Otu had built legacies, he had empowered lots of people. Those who want to lead tomorrow should borrow a leaf from Prince Otu.

“We in the City of Evidence believe in his capacity to rebuild the State. We will continue to pray for him to succeed because there are people out there waiting to laugh at him. I advise our in-coming Governor to deny himself and put the people first as he promised in his manifesto.

“He should use the next two/three years to put Cross River together again for when he removes self and focus on the people, it would guarantee his second term.  Let him not allow the victory of the first term to becloud his performance because four years is not forty years. He should work and have his second term victory in mind,” he stated.

The Man of God also advised the in-coming Governor to be a man of his own, adding “Let me say again that detractors are waiting to laugh and ridicule him as such he should sit up from day one. He should deny himself of certain things and focus on the task of rebuilding our delapidated State.

“He must be absolutely in charge and not allow someone else to dictate to him, after all, it is the Otu’s administration, and any form of failure would be Otu’s. He should be the man in charge. I trust that God will use Senator Otu to put smiles on the countenance of our people. He is popularly refered to as ‘Sweet Prince,’ let the sweetness rub on our people.”

Dr Uket further advised Senator Otu to have an all-inclusive government of unity where people from other political parties like the PDP, Labour Party and others would play roles to reposition the State, saying “this will go a long way to calm frayed nerves.”

He further charged those who did not win the elections to immediately congratulate winners at all levels in the spirit of sportsmanship, and warned against litigations.

“If don’t win today, you could win tomorrow because God has a fixed time for everything so relax your mind,” he advised.

The City of Evidence General Overseer further noted thst the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, disappointed majority of Nigerians with its performance during the February 25, 2023 elections but that they stepped up their performance in the March 11 polls.

“In my views, INEC scored at least 70 percent in the Governorship and House of Assembly polls as compared to what happened during the presidential and National Assembly elections. The umpire should ascertain where it faltered and make changes where necessary. We should learn from our past mistakes and correct the anomalies,” he submitted
