The Methodist Church Nigeria is set to entroned the Rt. Rev. Otuekong Ukut Ph.D as the Pioneer Bishop of the Atamunu Diocese in a colourful event which shall witness men of God and worshippers from all over the country.
Our reporter gathered that the event, which is scheduled for Sunday, May 7, 2023, would be officiated by the Archbishop, Archdiocese of Calabar, his Grace, Most Rev.(Amb.) Chimezuo Nwankpa.
Rt. Rev. Otuekong Ukut disclosed this, Monday, in Calabar while unveiling programme of activities lined up for the inauguration of Diocese of Atamunu, Calabar scheduled for Sunday.
Otuekong who is nick-named ‘Bllionaire Bishop’ by friends and other members, said the ceremony would have three events intertwined on that day with men and women of faith drawn from different denominations around the world to grace the mega event.
“The three events are intertwined. It’s the reason we called it ‘Trinity Service ‘ It will showcase whatever stride we had archieved to reverence God Almighty,” he stated.
Giving an insight to activities lined up for the event, Rt Rev Ukut said, “we are going to start with inauguration of the Diocese, enthronement of myself as piooner Bishop of Atamunu Diocese, and presentation of the lay president, Elder Dr. Gabriel Inyang, to the congregation”.
According to him, other side attractions to be carried out by Methodist Cathedral of Atamunu, includes commissioning of multi-million naira projects which houses the Bishop’s Office, Favour Shopping Centre Complex and branded sinaged.
Another project to be commissioned, he explained, is a school block at 97 Atamunu at the new site of the Susan Away Secondary School, as well as the laying of foundation stone for the Bishop’s Court, which is still undergoing construction.
He said the Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Dr. Oliver Ali Aba l (JP) and his entourage, which includes the Secretary of Conference, Rt. Rev. Babatunde Taiwo, Rev. Inyang Effiong, immediate past prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Samuel Chukwu Emeka Kanu and wife would grace the occasion.
