In a bid to support the law enforcement agencies in their determination to stem the tide of criminalities, the Special Adviser to Governor Ben Ayade on Cocoa Development and Control, Dr Oscar Ofuka, has built a police station at Bendeghe-Ekeim community in Etung local government area of Cross River and handed same to the State Police command.

Speaking while handing over the facilities to the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aminu Hassan, Ofuka described the gesture as his contribution to improve security in the state and therefore charged youths to always guard against theft and vandalisation of public facilities.

He further urged youths to be vigilant against criminal tendencies which he noted could plunge communities into retrogression, saying crime-free society could engender even and sustainable development.

“I am ready to contribute towards the peace and security of lives and properties of the Etung people as well as complement the effort of the State government in security projections. This is the reason for this gesture,” he noted.

The State Commissioner of Police, Aminu Hassan, who received the facilities on behalf of the State Police Command, expressed delight at the gesture.

“If every community could have philanthropic and generous minded people like Dr. Ofuka, the society would be a far better place to stay,” je said, and promised to relay the philanthropic development to the Inspector-General of Police and the State Governor for their acknowledgement.

PillarToday reports that the Police Station is duly completed and equipped with furniture and gadgets while the quarters, which is built to serve the accommodation needs of the policemen who would work in the station, is near completion.
