The Nka Ikemesit Mkparawa Essien Efik Duobeba, a socio-cultural organisation in Efikland, has congratulated the Obong of Calabar, His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi-Otu V for successful hosting the Utomo Obong cultural homage of last week.
In a press release made available to our reporter and signed by its Chairman, Ekpo Ekeng and Vice Chairman, Adim Ekpenyong Adim, the group also expressed unwavering support to Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in next year’s polls.
The group thumped up Governor Ben Ayade for living up to his promise of returning power to the Southern Senatorial District, describing the Governor in the Efik language as “Ete eting akpaniko” (a man of character and truth).
The release read in part: “Ikemesit Mkparawa Essien Efik Duopeba, the umbrella body of youths in Efik, heartily congratulate the Obong of Calabar, His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi-Otu V, the Grand Patriarch of the Efik kingdom, The Treaty King, on his successful hosting of the Utomo Obong 2022.
“We also commend the Chairman, Etubom Traditional Council as well as other Etuboms, Chiefs and leaders who made the occasion successful. Congratulations to Efik Kingdom.
“We use this medium to wish our Patron, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, the governorship candidate of APC in Cross River state, a successful outing next year but before then, we wish him a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance.
