A religious organisation, Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS), has debunked online reports that its leadership was planning to host the Igbos on the presidential ambitions of Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, who in court to over the last presidential election.
Spokesman for the religious body, Patriarch Amah Williams, who made the rebuttal in a press statement in Calabar, said:“The attention of the Office of the Spokesman of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star has been drawn to a misleading and malicious headline being carried by an online blogger insinuating that the Leadership of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star plans to host a meeting with the Igbos on the Presidential ambitions of Mr Peter Obi.
“We wish to make it categorically clear that this information is false, misleading and a calculated attempt to smear the reputation of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star as a reputable nonpartisan spiritual organization.
“The Leader of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star is not a politician nor is He interested in politics. He is the Father of all and all genuine aspirations of the children of God are always blessed by Him.
Concerning the Leadership of Nigeria, He has made it clear on several occasions that only the Will of God will be done in Nigeria. Therefore, at no time did He invite the Igbo Nations for a meeting concerning the presidential ambitions of Mr Peter Obi or any politician as insinuated by the said report made by Scooper.
“The gathering of all Igbos before His Holy presence has nothing in its entirety to do with politics but has everything to do with His soul-saving mission on earth, which encompasses blessing and the repositioning of humanity for salvation.
“It is therefore important to state here that Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) is non-denominational, non-sectional, and non-governmental. It is the New Kingdom of God instituted and governed by God Himself.
It is a Universal Divine Institution that teaches and practices universal love, peace, unity, truth and righteousness in the Holy Spirit and has nothing to do with politics or the political ambitions of men or any group. The Leadership of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star believes in constituted authority and obeys all established laws of the land and also encourages adherents to do the same as stated in 1st Peter 2:17.
“Therefore, as the ideal instrument for mankind to regain her spiritual, moral and social freedom as a people created to serve God’s purpose, a gathering such as will take place amongst God’s children in Igbo land has nothing to do with politics but it is for the spiritual blessings of all the sons and daughters of Igbo extraction.
“While we reprehend Scooper for this malicious propaganda peddled to mislead unsuspecting Nigerians, we strongly urge the general public to disregard such information by the online blogger.”
