The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for Bakassi State Constituency in the last general election, Comrade Emmanuel Asuquo has congratulated Governor Bassey Edet Otu and his Deputy, Rt Hon Peter Odey on their successful swearing-in on May 29, 2023 to pilot the affairs of Cross River State in the next four years.
Comrade Asuquo, in a congratulatory message made available to PillarToday, Tuesday morning, also commended his opponent in the race, Hon. Eyo Bassey of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who would be among House of Assembly members-elect to be inaugurated today, June 13, 2023.
He also lauded Mr Asuquo Ekpenyong Jr, Senator – Elect for the Southern Senatorial District as well as Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey, who also emerged victorious as a member who would represent Akpabuyo, Bakassi, Calabar South Federal Constituency in the House of Representative and who would also be sworn in today, June 13, in Abuja.
“When I decided to contest election into the Cross River State House of Assembly, i was guided by my strong believe to effectively represent the interest of the people of Bakassi and to have a platform to address the many challenges our people are faced with. Most especially the issue of the Development and Resettlement of the Indigenous People of Bakassi Local Governmnent Area with their true identity in Dayspring 1, Dayspring 2 & Kwa Islands due to its contiguity to the High Sea.
“However, I commend Independent National Electoral Commission for the conduct of the elections despite the itches experienced in our locality.
“Elections have come and gone. I congratulate the Governor, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, His Deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, Senator – Elect for Southern Senatorial District, Mr Asuquo Ekpenyong Jr., Federal House Of Representative Member – Elect for Akpabuyo, Bakassi, Calabar South Federal Constituency Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey and the House of Assembly Member – Elect for Bakassi State Constituency, Hon. Eyo Bassey for their victory at the poll and subsequently congratulate Rt. Hon Eyo Bassey on his swearing-in as Member, Representing Bakassi State Constituency in the CRSHA today, 13th June, 2023.
“Our people have spoken. I also thank our Natural Leader, Distn. Sen. Princess Florence Ita-Giwa for her steadfastness and for continuing to champion the cause of Bakassi. I thank very specially, all our Leaders, Youths, and youth groups, the women and all those who stood by me in this election.
