The Member-Elect for Etinan State Constituency, Engr. Uduakobong Ekpo-Ufot last Thursday, March 30, 2023 received his Certificate of Return at the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) office in Akwa Ibom State.
Uduakobong Ekpo-Ufot won the election on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Etinan State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
The event was witnessed by His excellency, governor Udom Emmanuel and other prominent sons of Etinan local government area including Obong Paul Ekpo, member elect for Etinan/Nsit Ubium/Nsit Ibom federal constituency, Dr. Okon Emmah and Engr.Billy Etuk.
Others, were Deacon Udo Ekwere, Mr.Imoh Asangausung, ward three Iman South leader, Ms. Idongesit Akpan, councillor representing the ward, Elder Monday Mofat, Elder Nsikak Udo, Elder Samuel Innoh, Elder Idongesit Inyang, Aniebet Ekong among other dignitaries from Efa where Uduak Ekpo Ufot comes from.
Speaking at a reception in his house in Uyo, the member elect for Etinan state constituency, Engr. Uduakobong Ekpo Ufot, expressed thanks to God, governor Udom Emmanuel and all those who supported him during the campaign and the election proper.
Ekpo Ufot, described his certificate of return as an undertaking he has signed before the people of Etinan state constituency, praying God to give him the grace to do what needs to be done to impress and create that sense of belonging among the people.
He, particularly disclosed that he will use his Information Technology IT background to showcase the constituency in the technological global map as a technology, media and telecommunications professional to create jobs and raise a standard in the local government.
Also speaking, deacon Udo Ekwere, a political propeller in Efa, felt excited that God at last has produced a man of good character, a man of substance, tested and a man that will not disappoint Etinan people to represent them in the State House of Assembly.
He said that Uduakobong Ekpo Ufot, will give Etinan people, a good representation and respond appropriately on issues when called upon to do so without fear or favour given his background as a humble, humane and God fearing person.
The Southern Iman ward three leader, Mr. Imoh Asangausung in his submissions, expressed gratitude to God for remembering ward three, Iman South and Efa in particular after over 34 years of neglect in both elective and political appointment in the entire Etinan local government area.
Asangausung, explained that apart from the statutory councillorship position, Efa, in Iman clan has been so down and backward in producing a representative at the higher level due to lack of what he called ‘influential people’ or community leaders to speak for the community.
He thanked governor Udom Emmanuel for responding to the yearnings of Efa people by providing an avenue and opportunity for Uduakobong Ekpo Ufot to emerge stating that with this development, amenities like water, light, concrete poles, good roads and empowerment shall be expected from government through the Member of Parliament.
