We’ll vote for you, C/River Students Tell APC’s Bassey Otu

Few days to the March 11 Governorship and State Assemblies elections in Nigeria, students, under the umbrella of Students Leadership Forum, have said they would cast their votes for Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the elections for the sake fairness and equity.

They made their stance known, weekend, when the body stormed the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Centre, Calabar, to restate their commitment and support for Senator Otu and his deputy, Rt Hon Peter Odey.

A communique signed by different students leaders noted that power rotation formula had been adopted as a guiding principle for power sharing in various Student Unions of tertiary institutions such as National Association of Cross River State Students World Wide( NACRISS-WW) and Students Union Government (SUG).

“It is imperative and instructive at this point to mention that beyond the fact that Senator Bassey Otu is favored by the argument of time, he is also the most student and youth friendly candidate with greater antecedent compared to all other candidates,” the communique stated 

Speaking, chairman of the forum, Comrade Edet Boniface, said one of the things which endeared Prince Bassey Otu to Cross River students was the candidate’s kind dispositions as well as his scorecards.

Acoording to the body, Senator Otu’s magnanimity dated back to when the guber candidate facilitated the UNICROSS administrative block, built some primary)secondary schools and several school blocks across the southern senatorial district.

Boniface said Otu also gave grants and scholarships to students, gave empowerment and employment to many youths.

“Looking at his track record of service to the people in and out of office, the forum wishes to implore all well-meaning students of Cross River State origin, various institutions to go out en masse on the 11th day of March 2023 and vote Prince Bassey Edet Otu in order to maintain this political balance and peace enjoyed in the state,” he enjoined Cross Riverians.

Also speaking, the Students Union Government (SUG) president, Comrade Tyrone Bassey, appealled to students to exercise their franchise in favour of the APC Governorship Candidate.
