The Managing Director, Cross River State Water Board Limited, Chief Victor Effiom Ekpo has said that socketing with the Centre, will benefit the state in terms of development.

Ekpo stated this recently during a political rally in Odukpani Local Government Headquarters tagged; “Socketing to the Centre with Governor Ben Ayade”.

He said it is difficult when you are not part of the system of the ruling party and that was why Governor Ben Ayade decided to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the state to benefit what he described as dividend of democracy.

“I used to be Special Adviser to the Governor on NDDC, I know what I went through trying to socket to the centre, it wasn’t easy but now that we are officially socketing to the centre, we are going to benefit all dividend of democracy. We are going to work with the national and everything will be fine for the state.

“I could remember when the governor made a statement that he is giving the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) some times to put their house in other so that PDP will not leave a new Cross River state, like what we are seeing now is a new Cross River State, today, the people are all moving with his Excellency Senator Ben Ayade. In Odukpani, we have12 polling units, am not exaggerating, everybody has decided to follow us to APC, and we are all APC now.” He stated.

Welcoming new members to the APC at the local government headquarters, the former Senator representing South Senatorial District, Prince Bassey Otu, said it was the happiest day of his life to reunite with his kinsmen who because of party differences lost touch.

Praising the APC government at the federal level for appointing some sons and daughters of Odukpani , Prince Otu, noted that the council has been facing a lot of challenges of development because they have not aligned with the centre, but with the governor’s movement to the ruling party, both the state and the council would benefit greatly.

“Today happens to be one of the happiest days in my life. Apart from the reunification with my brothers who we lost touch because of party differences, I think it is very important for us to know that Odukpani has never taken a back seat both in the state politics or national politics. This movement of Governor Ayade to the centre is divine and Odukpani is going to socket and benefit really “.

He said, “I think all of us know the challenges of Odukpani, our topography both in terms of transportation, infrastructure, and boundary issues are such that they are too much for the state to contain, we need the federal to come in and help and solve these problems. How do we get national to come in and solve it when we don’t belong to that national?

“APC have never been badly with Odukpani. APC have been the first party to give an Odukpani daughter head of the civil service of the federation, they did not stop there, and they also gave us an ambassador who is present and here with us today. I think these are guarantee that we are moving into a bright future. We lost out this time because we couldn’t do the performance we were required or needed to.

“In APC, we enjoy equal opportunity where everyone is at liberty to be whatsoever he or she wants to be or what God says he should be”.
