PG School Is The Flagship Of The University, Says New Dean

The new Dean of the PostGraduate (PG) School, University of Calabar, Prof. Eyong Ubana Eyong has described the PostGraduate School as the flagship of the University which must remain focused to meet the research aspirations of the institution.

Prof Eyong Eyong stated that Staff who work in the Postgraduate School must do so with a sense of responsibility, high ethical standards and good conduct.

Prof. Eyong who stated this in his inaugural speech during a brief handover ceremony which was held at the conference room of the postgraduate school maintained that his priority will be to make the Unical Post Graduate School better than he met it.

The new and substantive Dean of the Post Graduate School charged staff to close ranks and work as a team adding that collective hard work and dedication to duty was the only way to achieve desired success.

In his words, ”A good labourer deserves his wages and those who work hard will always get rewarded”.

He, therefore, enjoined the staff of the postgraduate school to remain selfless in their dealings and shun all practices that are capable of tarnishing the image and reputation of the school.

Speaking earlier, the outgone Dean of the Post Graduate School, Prof. Imoh Umoinyang thanked members of staff for their unwavering support and devotion to duty which in no small way helped his administration in achieving set goals and objectives.

He reeled out some of his achievements to include the approval of 30 new programmes, rebranding of the Resource, Store and File rooms and improved general staff devotion to work amongst others.

Prof. Imo Umoinyang called on secretaries to ensure that standards are maintained even as he urged all stakeholders to ensure that Certificates are printed as soon as results were turned in, stressing that the rigorous processes of applying for certificates before processing was no longer fashionable.

Also speaking, the Deputy Dean of the Post Graduate School, Prof. John Shiyam while commending the outgone Dean for his exemplary leadership called on all staff to support the incoming administration so that the dream of a better Post Graduate School can be achieved.

The high point of the event was the official handover by the outgone Dean, Prof. Imoh Umoinyang Edet to the new Dean of the Post Graduate School, Prof. Eyong Ubana Eyong.
