BnL Warns Foreign Contractors To Vacate Bakassi Within One Week Or Face Sanctions

Biafra Nations League (BnL) has warned foreign contractors employed by Cameroonian government to repair damaged oil installations at the maritime border area of Bakassi Peninsula to back off or face sanctions.

The Operational Coordinator of BnL, Henry Edet who issued the warning on Tuesday, Jan 2, 2024, asked foreign contractors to evacuate from Bakassi within the next one week.

He warned that his group will do everything possible to ensure the Nigerian and Cameroonian governments will not resume drilling at the maritime border area.

Militant groups have continued to attack oil companies in the region, the last attack in the year 2023 was the bombing of two oil installations at the maritime border leading to both Nigeria and Cameroon suspending drilling till January 2024.

Meanwhile top sources said the two countries have beefed up security at maritime border, as explosion hits Isangele on Jan 3, 2024.

The sources said that the explosion has killed unidentified number of Cameroonian Forces at Isangele subdivision of Bakassi Peninsula.

This is coming hours after Nigeria and Cameroon Joint Border Patrol increased presence at the maritime border area.

In a related development, unconfirmed reports said militants suspected to be members of the BnL, have killed five Cameroon Gendarmes, disarming two in Abana fishing port on new year day, January 1.
