Construction on-going on the Esuk Odot road

Esuk Odot community in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River state was last weekend thrown into excitement as an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Engr. Nsa Ekpenyong Asuquo commenced construction of a two kilometre road network at the community.

The Esuk Odot community since the re-commencement of democracy in Nigeria in 1999 has not seen any government presence hence the construction of the 2km road by an individual is like a manner from heaven.

Speaking to Nsa Ekpenyong media team during a tour of the project, the Village Head of Esuk Odot, Chief Okon Edet Okon expressed delight on the road construction project, manifesting even greater happiness knowing that the gesture was coming from a son of the soil.

“I thank God for our son, Engr. Nsa Ekpenyong, who has been of help to this community in diverse ways — human capital development, agriculture, infrastructure, etc.

The Village Head thanked Asuquo immensely for the road project, saying “we believe in his leadership capacity, which he is sufficiently demonstrating, given the tenacity he is rolling out ideas and vision of transforming our community”.

Recounting the harrowing experiences suffered from the deplorable conditions of the road over the years, the monarch expressed optimism that the road, upon completion, will herald a surge in socio-economic development of the community.

Also speaking, a former councillor in Odukpani, Hon. Ukpong Edet said: “I want to thank God for this miracle. Since the inception of democracy, there has been negligible attention to Esuk Odot community. I thank God for our brother, Engr. Nsa Ekpenyong for demonstrating such degree of love for his community.”

While on his part, a youth leader, Mr. Asuquo Okon conveyed gratitude to the sponsor of the project, saying that the youths of Esuk Odot have found in him a ‘source of pride and beacon of hope,’ while reassuring him of their unalloyed support.

The Project Director, Engr. Blessing assured that barring any force majeure, the road should be completed and handed over to the community as soon as possible.
