The Leader of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS), His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, has called for the foundational reconstruction of Nigeria.

Leader Obu who made the call in his October 1 goodwill message to Nigerians and their leaders as they celebrate her 63rd Independence Day as a sovereign nation, said the country has passed through many phases of life “but now is the time for foundational reconstruction. Building a stronger moral and spiritual foundation must now be the main priority for Nigeria’s leaders and people”.

This was contained in a statement issued on October 1 by the Spokesman of the BCS,  Dr Amah Williams.

The sole spiritual head of the BCS said, Nigeria as a nation, “needs a more solid foundation based on love for God and one another, justice, and fair opportunity for all must now replace fundamental beliefs and behaviours that have thrived on deception, hatred, and greed because, as our Lord Jesus Christ stated, only a house built on a solid foundation can stand forever”.

“Leaders of this nation should know that peace emanates from an individual’s place of humility, tolerance, forgiveness, forbearance and the willingness to forgo possessions or pains for the sake of peace”, Leader Obu declared, adding, “therefore, leaders at all levels must be ready to forgive, tolerate divergent opinion and respect each other”.

“Nigeria, which is the physical abode of God has received the divine peace and protection from His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu. Let the peace and blessings of our Holy Father abide with Nigeria and Nigerians now and forevermore. Amen”, he prayed .

Leader Obu congratulated Nigerians, both at home and abroad, for their tenacity, dedication to the advancement of their country, and enviably unwavering sense of patriotism that characterise its people everywhere.

By the sheer grace of God, he said, Nigeria has maintained its status as a continuously developing country despite its numerous difficulties and its citizens are making their imprints on the international stage for various admirable causes: hence “the prospect of a more prominent and prosperous country cannot be more certain”.
