CRS 2023 Governorship: Bekwara People Endorse Sen. Gershom Bassey

The people of Bekwara have endorsed the candidature of Senator Gershom Bassey as governor of Cross River state come 2023.

The endorsement which came from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chapter Chairman of Bekwara, Hon. Obule, the Caucus Leader of Bekwara, Hon. Timmy Ekawu, Women Leader Mrs Abah Regina and the Youth Leader of Bekwara , Mr. Idiege on behalf of Bekwara people said Gershom Bassey is the man to follow and “the people of Bekwara cannot afford to waste their votes’.

Sen. Bassey, a leading Gubernatorial aspirant for the Cross River State upcoming Governorship Elections got the endorsement at weekend when he consulted the Leaders and party faithfuls of Bekwara as regards his aspiration.

Obule assured Sen. Bassey that as the political father of PDP, ‘the votes of Bekwara “will not be wasted on any aspirant that is not competent to mount the number one seat of Cross River State’.

The Caucus Leader of Bekwara, Hon. Timmy Ekawu in his remark welcomed the aspirant and his entourage for visiting Bekwara as he urged the people to support Sen. Bassey during the primaries in 2022 and the general elections in 2023 respectively.

On her part, the Women Leader, Mrs. Regina on behalf of the  women of Bekwara assured the aspirant and PDP of total support while the Youth Leader of Bekwara , Mr. Idiege assured the aspirant of total support from the youth wing noting that as far as they are concerned Bekwara is for Sen. Bassey who is also the Cross River National Assembly Caucus Chairman. 

Sen. Bassey who is popularly known as “The EAGLE” because of his political tenacity, strength and skill, released a two point agenda of “Economic Emancipation and Security” to the Bekwara people out of the numerous agenda he has for the rebuilding and delivering of Cross River as a safe economic hub for the people..
He stressed the importance of security and economic emancipation in the State emphasising that these two point agenda are the fulcrum of human and economic development of the state.

As a man who knows the way, and will lead and show the way to the “new paradise of our dream” in Cross River State, Sen. Bassey assured the good people of Bekwara of equity, fairness and quality representation in all sectors because PDP as a party is “a party of truth and progress in term of peaceful governance and economic emancipation”.

The Senatorial aspirant for Central Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Bassey Eko Ewa who was part of the consultation entourage told  the party leaders and people of Bekwara that Sen. Bassey is a man with the blue print of Cross River State as “a planner with technical know-how; having been an engine room during the reign of  His  Excellency Donald Duke and Sen. Liyel Imoke administration” .

He  urged party faithfuls and stakeholders to support a party man in the person of Sen. Bassey whose efforts in the state and party have yielded results overtime and his contributions to the growth and development of the party and Cross River State at large can not be overemphasised.

A National Assembly  lawmaker representing Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chris Agibe described the gubernatorial aspirant before  the stakeholders as “a golden fish to be reckoned with”.

Agibe emphasized on the need of the people of Bekwara to support zoning system in the governorship position and ensure that it is zoned to Southern Senatorial district of Cross River State for equity and justice.

He said, the system of zoning has been a major factor of peace and natural law in the limelight of unity  in the State as he admonished the people on the need to support Sen. Bassey during the primaries and  general elections come 2023 considering his capacity in terms of service delivery.

Others in the consultation team include; Rt. Hon. Itam Abang, Barr. Attah Ochinke, Dr. Mrs Chioma Gershom Bassey, Dr. Bassey, Comrade Dan Obo Jnr, top party leaders among others.
