…Politics Cannot Divide Us, Oku Ibom Ibibio

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno and the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Judiciary, Barr Onofiok Luke have settled their differences.

The peace process was made possible by the Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of the Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, Edidem Solomon Etuk as Luke collapsed his campaign structure and support base for Eno and promised to integrate all his supporters to work together with him in the overall interest of the state.

The Oku Ibom Ibibio who is also the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium where both Eno and Luke hail from, insisted that he was bent on ensuring that politics does not divide his children.

Etuk who orchestrated the reconciliation   in the presence of other paramount rulers said as a father he could not stay alive to watch his children stay at opposite directions.

He advised Eno, the winner of the PDP primaries to carry his brother and others along, as more hands make the job a lot easier saying, “it is like a farm, with more hands, the weeding is easier.”

On his part, Eno described Luke as a humble, honest and sincere brother who is passionate about the development of the State and promised to partner with the Etinan Federal House of Representatives member in his quest to sustain the peace and economic development in the state.

He used the occasion to share his blueprint with the erstwhile governorship aspirant, assuring that his governorship ambition was borne from the need to trigger his experience in managing businesses with the aim of supporting and encouraging people in small and medium scale enterprises to grow.

The member representing Etinan Federal Constituency stunned the paramount rulers at the Palace, declaring his support to Pastor Eno’s ambition with a call on his supporters to queue behind the PDP Candidate .

He said the reconciliation meeting was symbolic because it was instituted by his fathers and as a child from a humble home, he couldn’t disobey the monarchs.

“It would have been very difficult for me to be convinced if this meeting had been at the instance of any other set of people”, Luck declared adding, “I never haboured any intention to betray my party PDP because everything I have achieved, has been made possible by the PDP”.

Pastor Umo Eno was accompanied by his running mate, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Secretary of MPM, Prince Enobong Uwah, House of Assembly Member, Otobong Bob, former PDP Chairman and House of Representatives Candidate, Paul EKPO, major players in the state’s private sector, Engr. Uwem Okoko (Hensek)and Elder Aniefiok Johnny(Nsik Motors) among others.
