Paramount Ruler of Ika local government area, HRM Edidem Okosi Joseph Ekot III, has requested the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Umo Eno to establish an industry in the area when elected into office.

The Paramount Ruler made the request when the PDP/Pastor Umo Eno and Akon Eyakenyi campaign team paid a visit on him at his palace before proceeding to Urua Inyang for the campaign rally.

He noted that Ika is a farming area and will require government support to boost agriculture in the area, and appealed to Pastor Umo Eno to provide the necessary assistance through his agricultural revolution and rural development plans as contained in his ARISE Agenda.

While expressing delight over the visit, the respected monarch said, “I am happy as God has brought you to my palace, whatever you have requested, God will grant you.”

Earlier, Pastor Umo Eno appreciated the traditional father for opening his doors for his team and commended the calibre of paramount rulers in the state who according to him, have supported Governor Udom Emmanuel to maintain peace in their respective domains.

He noted that he was aware of the needs of Ika LGA, and will work with the traditional institution and the entire people to meet their needs.

Pastor Eno disclosed that he has conducted a comprehensive needs assessment of the area adding that the development plans for Ika are well captured in the ARISE Agenda and would be implemented accordingly.

The visibly elated governorship hopeful who was accompanied by his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Patience, and the deputy governorship candidate Senator Akon Eyakenyi, promised to site an agro allied industry in the area if elected into office.

High point of the visit was the presentation of different gift items including a native he-goat and farm produce to demonstrate their love for the candidate and show proudly that Ika is a farming community.
