Otu’s Wife Advocates Priority Grooming For Children In Nigeria

The wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Rev.  Eyoawan Bassey Otu, has charged the governments of Nigeria and parents to give priority to children proper grooming for a better society. 

Rev. Otu, who gave this charge on Wednesday while flagging-off the Children’s Carnival from the Botanical Garden, Calabar in the on going Calabar Festival celebrations. 

She said, “children are the future of any great nation and should be groomed by teaching them positive societal values, love and as well as encouraging them to be valuable to the society”.

Equally speaking, the Minister of Humanitarians Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, stated that the Children’s Carnival is an opportunity to preach humanity, show love, compassion, kindness and be more humane in all our dealings. 

Dr Betta admonished all to raise a voice for humanity through the Carnival Calabar to put an end to violence, war, massacre and killings around the world and preach peace.

On his part, the Chairman Carnival Commission, Mr Gabe Onah, lauded Governor Bassey Otu for bringing back the Children’s Carnival and ensuring a better tomorrow for them through this medium.

Onah, described her Excellency as ‘the sweetness’ for ensuring the Children’s Carnival which is one of her passions held this year.

The Carnival troupe of seven bands began with the Seagull band and was a display of culture, folklore, education, child rights, sports, moral training, happy children and a secured future.
