The victorious Nigerian team

The Nigeria senior national team has emerged champions of the maiden edition of the West Africa Trophy Cricket Tournament held in Lagos between 3 to 15 October 2023.
Nigeria men’s team the Yellow Greens defeated arch-rivals Rwanda by 17 runs in the final game on Sunday evening. Nigeria scored 103/7 while Rwanda’s chase ended at 86/8.
Nigeria made a clean sheet performance in the tournament by winning all matches including three-time victories against East African cricket giant Rwanda. Other teams in the Four-Nation tournament were Ghana and Sierra Leon
According to the Yellow Greens’ captain Sylvester Okpe, Nigeria’s success did not happen because other teams were pushover but rather attributed to hard work by the players and Coach Steve Tikolo’s innovative touch.
