C/R  Govt, UNICEF Collaborate to Train Civil Servants on Capacity Building

The Cross River State Government is collaborating with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to train civil servants on capacity building.

The two day capacity building workshop at weekend driven by the State Planning Commission is targeted at Ministries, Parastatals and Government Agencies (MDAs) for result based management.

Declaring the workshop open, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Owan Enoh maintained that, “without planning, there will be no success and that is why as a government, we believe in the power of planning which is why this workshop is very important to us”. 

Prof. Enoh promised that the state planning commission would be given all the necessary support needed because the State needs a proper planning and “as a government, we will partner with you, work with you, and will give all the encouragement”

The Acting Head of Field Office for UNICEF Enugu, Mr Olusoji  Akinleye while addressing journalists on the essence of the workshop, stated that UNICEF is committed to the process of a purposeful capacity building on results base management (RBM)

Mr Akinleye maintained that the Governor of Cross River, Senator Bassey Otu has a vision of developing the state, stressing that there is no better way to achieve this than to have a state development plan that will translate vision to a measurable and visible plans

He further stressed that the workshop will help people to plan in a purposeful manner that would ensure results base management is in place and this will help the governor to achieve his vision and move the state forward in terms of development in all sphere.

In his remarks, the State Director of Planning , Cross River State Planning Commission, Mr Kingsley Ndem Ndiyo said that the objectives of the training was to build the capacity of the participants on results base management, to also support the situation analysis with data collections and also plan for the development of the State.
