With a heavy heart, I extend my sincere condolences to the President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and the Dangote family over the death of Alhaji Sani Dangote, who until his demise was the Vice President of the Dangote Group.
As a Cross Riverian, I recall the faith and determination shown by the late businessman in acquiring some non-performing assets of the Cross River State Government back then. He followed this up with the establishment of the Dansa Foods Processing Company in the Calabar Free Trade Zone. This necessitated the acquisition and development of pineapple farms across the State, with a resultant uptick in the agro industry.
On a national scale, his contributions to the Nigerian business environment as well as sports development have led to significant growth in those sectors. These footprints are indelible.
An affable, selfless and committed Nigerian has exited this world and left a void that will be difficult to fill. He will be greatly missed by all who have had the privilege to encounter him. I enjoin the Dangote family to be consoled by the good legacies he left behind even as I urge them to sustain his good memory.
