The member representing Bakassi State Constituency in the Cross River House of Assembly, Dr Ekpo Ekpo Bassey, has donated a well-furnished campaign office to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the State, Senator Bassey Otu
The gesture may have boosted and swelled Senator Otu’s support base as he strives to take over the Peregrino Governor’s House in 2023.
PillarToday reports that hundreds of supporters thronged the venue in excitement, singing the praises of the Governorship hopeful and expressing their determination to work towards ensuring power returned to the Southern Senatorial districts of the State.
Speaking while making the donation, Dr Ekpo Ekpo Bassey, who is a former Chairman of Bakassi local government council, and who is also serving his second term in the House, said, “The facility is for all the candidates of the party to use and plan and execute their campaigns to win the elections.
“All the candidates from presidential, governorship, senatorial and indeed every other candidate is free to take advantage of this facility to use and plan effective campaign operations to deliver Bakassi.
“I thank the Party Chairman for taking his time out of his busy schedule to be here, I crave his indulgence to go ahead and do the needful.”
In his brief remarks, the Chapter Chairman of APC in Bakassi, Mr. Gerald Esin, who commissioned the office compex described the gesture as “an act of love for anyone to handover his house for political party activities.”
According to him, Dr. Ekpo Ekpo has served Bakassi people creditably both as Council Chairman and House of Assembly Member.
“That he has handed over this great edifice to the party for the Presidential, Governorship, Senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly Candidates, is a testimony of his commitment to the ideals of the APC.
“I call on those desiring to politick in favour of all the candidates to stop over here and do the talking and the politicking,” Mr. Gerald added, saying it was an honour to commission the campaign office to the glory of God and the betterment of his people..
